Only issue is ads

I love this app when looking up lyrics for stuff. It’s the best thing I’ve used in a while. The only issue is the ads that are shown while I’m reading the lyrics.I often play music while reading the lyrics, especially if I’m trying to learn it, and I had a bit of trouble with my music pausing because there was a video ad -with no sound btw- which kept stopping music, and it was a hassle to get it going again.Otherwise, it’s great!

I don’t usually write reviews but I’m doing it now because I loooove Genius. I use the app on a daily basis because I’m big on understanding the lyrics completely (English is not my first language), and get insights into the artist’s mind as well as seeing the credits for songs and the app does a great job at that. What ANNOYS me to the core, is the apps inability to save the state you were in when you leave the app. If I happen to minimize the app for a second to reply a text message, less than a minute after when I get back, the app brings me back to the homepage so I need to go again and search for whatever lyrics I was looking before I minimized the app. This has been going on since forever, it’s time to fix it guys 🙏🏽

After updating my phone, I was forced to updated all my apps. After doing so I soon came to realise that there was no ‘currently playing’ tab. This function made the app very useful, and without it, it is a pain to use. The ‘what’s playing’ notification which I presume is to replace the ‘currently playing’ tab is utterly useless, it never sends a notification when the song changes! And even if it was working, to design is so dumb, if I want to see the lyrics, I’ll open the app. Also, every time I open the app, it always requests my Apple ID, EVERY TIME. I don’t know what for anymore. Because I’m of these reasons, I’m deleting this app until it is fixed and useful. Please bring the old version back!

I am only able to read a certain number of annotations on a song. After a while, the app is just endlessly loading when I click on an annotation which is really annoying because it means I need to close the app and reopen it. Not to mention every time I leave the app for a split second, it fails to remember what page I was on and returns to the homepage. Really disappointing and frustrating. I hope this issue is fixed soon and is not swept aside due to no other app matching the services that genius provides.
